Measurement and Evaluation in Humanities and Education

AUTHOR Kasomo, Daniel W.
PUBLISHER LAP Lambert Academic Publishing (08/16/2010)
PRODUCT TYPE Paperback (Paperback)

Description
Today, it is being said that our education system is not relevant to our needs and that its standards are falling. Parents complain of the deteriorating discipline of students. In the final analysis, a limitation suggests that there is need to overhaul educational programmes to suit our needs. All these point to the idea that we must look back at what was happening in our country during colonial time and compare this with what is happening today. We can then focus ahead in the future. By doing this, we think of corrective and remedial measures. If the policies were desirable, efforts can be made to maintain and even improve them. This has for many years been done by soldiers in wars, farmers with their crops and soils, and mechanics with their repaired vehicles. In essence, all these are indicators of measurement and evaluation. Measurement and Evaluation are important processes for improvement and avoiding further errors. Even God evaluated his creation each day and saw that it was good, proceeding the next day (Genesis 1: 1-31 and Koran 57:4). In this book, you will be introduced to Measurement and Evaluation, especially their meaning, significance and styles.
