This is a handbook which provides concise information (not another textbook of high risk perinatal care) on the effect of maternal disease during pregnancy on the newborn. Such information is in general scattered around in textbooks, and the authors of this handbook have put together accurate information, after consulting various specialists, such as physicians, obstetricians, foetal medicine specialists, paediatricians, infectious disease specialists and others within the Imperial College hospitals. The text will be extremely useful for paediatricians and midwives working in maternity wards, special care baby units, neonatal units and transitional care, and obstetricians will benefit greatly by using it to give parents antenatal advice.
